Rising Sun Bakery
About the Farmer
Tori Slaughter took over Rising Sun Bakery in 2015. She has since moved the equipment to a bakery space in downtown Owen Sound. She loves that she now has the opportunity to nourishes her customers and community while doing something she enjoys!
When not baking Tori loves to be out with her family downhill skiing in the winter and swimming in the summer. She loves the fact that living in Owen Sound gives her the opportunity to do both!
About the Farm
Baking has been a passion of mine since I was young. It has been wonderful to share this love of mine with my family. At Rising Sun Bakery we take into account the quality of ingredients to make something truly healthy for your family. Our bread products are one of a kind that you will not find in any grocery store. We make bread for a couple of different restaurants in Owen Sound and you will also find us Saturday mornings at the Owen Sound Farmers' Market from 8am to 12:30pm.
We use organic flour to make our unique mostly spelt bread. Keeping our ingredients as local as possible helps us to focus on creating a truly unique flavour to our loaves. Along with light and whole spelt flour we combine other ancient grains such as kamut and red fife to take bread baking back to the basics. We source ingredients like Donald's Honey (www.donaldshoney.com) where they produce honey off grid just outside of Owen Sound. We are the only producer in the area that makes a vegan naan with organic soy milk and garlic that is delicious for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
